One of the best things about our job is to be working in the great outdoors and surrounded by nature.  To experience wildlife in your garden is a bonus.  We would love to work with you to encourage more wildlife into your garden.  Whether you simply want to install a bird box in the right position, have a planting scheme to attract more bees and insects or a wildlife pond.

If you love having a nice garden to sit and relax in but are finding it too difficult to maintain yourself then why not contact us to help you.  Working with or for you with our RHS LEVEL 3 Qualification in Practical Horticulture you can be assured that we are competent when it comes to looking after and maintaining your garden for you.  We can offer regular slots from just 2 hours or even a half day/full day on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis depending on how big your garden is.  From lawn and hedge cutting through to weeding, planting and pruning we are happy to help.

It was a joy to work on this garden transformation.  From meeting the client and coming up with a suitable design through to completion of the entire works ourselves.  This involved clearing the garden of the remains of an old brick pond and laid a new concrete pad for the summerhouse.  We also raised the levels and extended the patio with new paving slabs at the same height all the way round to take advantage of the views, made matching steps and a slope round the corner for easy access.  Rope edge pavers for the finishing touches and finally laid a new turf lawn to complete the garden.

As we continue to grow and develop, we are receiving more and more requests for Garden Design.  We treated ourselves to a Garden Design course with Adam Frost (whose easy going manner we enjoy on BBC Gardeners World).  We attended the Adam Frost Garden School and thoroughly enjoyed learning from Adam himself in his garden which was a real hi-light for both of us.

Mandy entered her first small local garden design competition and won! With her ‘Letterbox Garden Design’ for Coningsby Post Office and Bookshop in the Downtown Garden Centre 20th birthday Celebration Garden Design Competition. The Good Life Gardeners will now build the show garden at Belvoir Castle in September. In due course you will be able to see the garden re-built at the Coningsby Post Office & Bookshop.

A new outdoor entertaining space to take advantage of the sun and relax.  We managed to complete it just in time before the Covid lockdown and so the family were able to take advantage of the glorious weather whilst self-isolating at home.  With an open brief I developed a mood board to establish likes and dislikes, before drawing a plan that included; for a large rendered wall seating & BBQ area, with slatted wood contemporary fencing above, Tree Fern Planting Scheme and adjoining Decked Sunbathing area.  The garden being situated in Altrincham meant that contractors were employed to complete some of the works, but the paving and design was completed by ourselves.

We undertake all kinds of fencing projects from low picket fences through to long runs of concrete posts, boards and panels.  So, whether it’s just a storm damage repair or a complete replacement fence we can advise on and erect the best fence type for your garden conditions and aesthetics.

More and more we are being asked to design for new build gardens.  It can be quite daunting for homeowners with little or no experience of gardening to know where to begin.  We offer a complete design service with practical help and advice.  We work with clients to make the most of their outdoor spaces that can be developed and completed in stages with practical help and advice for garden maintenance in the future.

This is an ongoing project working with the client who has a regular hedgehog ‘Mrs Tiggywinkle’ living in her garden.

After initial site consultation and a plan drawn up we have divided the project into 3 stages to be completed over a period of time.

STAGE 1 was to build an inviting decked area with lighting and overhead canopy to take advantage of the patio doors leading out into the back garden.  The decking wood and canopy colour compliments the brickwork of the house beautifully and the size sits comfortably in the garden space.

STAGE 2 was to replace the clients fencing  and remove a shed and relocate another (in the process we found @Mrs Tiggywinkle had built a nest under the shed where she had her babies (we quickly took a photo before covering her up again left her to rest.  I am glad to report she comes out nightly for food before retiring again to look after her babies). The new lighter coloured fencing in natural treated wood has really enhanced the garden making it look bigger and adds privacy to the decked area.  We fitted trellis to sit in front of the neighbour’s fence panels along the back that could not be changed to add a cohesive look with the new fencing either side of the garden.

STAGE 3 will be to develop the area at the bottom of the garden to include a wildlife pond, seating area and planting areas.  Finally, we will bring the lawn back to life to complete the project.

Rob and Mandy have both completed their RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) Level 3 Course and are now professionally qualified.
